About Wilderness Expeditions:

  • We have offered wilderness trips and eco tours since 1969. Combined with the Birches Resort, we have offered great outdoor recreation for 35 years.
  • Rafting trips usually run from the beginning of May till October 15 (depending on dam release levels and customer demand).
  • We use only top quality NRS 8-man rafts and Sportside 6-Man rafts. They are great for surfing and other whitewater fun.
  • One guide is provided for every raft. For ducky trips, one guide will lead the way for anywhere from between 4-10 ducky rafters.
  • There will always be at least two rafts and two guides at any given day for safety reasons.
  • Photos and video footage are taken of nearly every trip we offer, except the Seboomook and East Outlet Ducky Trips. Seboomook videographers can be arranged to tape your ducky trip by special arrangement and at an extra charge. Please call for more information.

Information for all of our day rafting trips:

  • We recommend that you wear polyester or other non-cotton clothing.  Cotton stays wet longer and will make you cold.
  • Wear a pair of sandals, old sneakers or slippers.  Remember that you are going to get wet - don't wear your best shoes or clothing.  The rubber soles of some sneakers are slippery on the raft material.  Try to avoid wearing these.
  • If you want to take pictures during your trip, please bring a waterproof camera which won't be damaged by water and are inexpensive if lost.
  • Leave your wallets, jewelry and other valuables with either the van/bus driver or with your river guide (who will keep it secure in a waterproof bag). Leave your dry clothing in a bag on the van/bus and you can change as soon as the trip is over.  Your items will be safe and you can pick them up when you are done.
